What is the difference between a solar panel and a solar power plant?

A solar panel is an element of a solar power plant that collects energy from the sun and produces electricity. However, for the power supply needs of your company, it is necessary to install all other elements (eg inverter). All together (solar panels and all other elements) together form a solar power plant.

What is the approximate price of solar panels, i.e. solar power plants?

The total installed power of the solar power plant depends on:
– the usable area of the roof or other surface on which the power plant is installed,
– the leased connection power of the meter (data can be obtained from HEP),
– the planned annual consumption of electricity.

Companies usually install from 10 kW to even over 500 kW.

The price for each installed 1 kW is on average 700 – 1500 EUR (the final price is defined by the mentioned parameters).

When can I expect profitability of investments in solar power plants?

The final profitability of the solar power plant depends on:
– the usable area of the roof or other surface on which the power plant is installed,
– the leased connection power of the meter (data can be obtained from HEP),
– the planned annual consumption of electricity.

Considering the trend of decreasing prices of equipment for the installation of solar power plants, the payback period of solar systems is getting shorter and shorter.

Let’s take for example a solar power plant with a power of 100 kW. It can generate 120,000 kWh – 140,000 kWh per year. If the price of electricity is approximately 0.25 EUR/kWh – this means that the annual profit from the solar power plant amounts to 30,000-35,000 EUR. How to get subsidies and incentives for solar panels and power plant?

In recent years, a number of public calls for co-financing the use of renewable energy sources in industry have been published in the Republic of Croatia. Most of such tenders can be found on the website of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency and the website of the European Structural and Investment Funds.
